for the Maldives

Visa Icon Tourist Visa & Entry Requirements

A tourist visa is granted on arrival for all nationalities visiting the Maldives. Travelers do not need to obtain visa pre-approval before departure.

However, to receive immigration clearance upon arrival, each traveler must satisfy the official entry requirements established by Maldives Immigration.

Basic Entry Requirements

  • A passport or travel document with Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) and at least 1 month of validity.
    Passports with extended validity are not accepted.
  • A complete travel itinerary, including:
    • Confirmed return flight tickets
    • Medical insurance
    • Prepaid booking at a registered hotel
    • Proof of sufficient financial means
    • A pre-approved visa sponsorship by Maldives Immigration
  • Compliance with the entry requirements for onward destinations, including valid visas and passport validity.
  • A Traveller Declaration must be completed by all travelers arriving to or departing from the Maldives. This must be submitted within 96 hours before the flight via the IMUGA portal.
